A compelling video is worth a thousand words

In the second of our series of employee profiles, we introduce you to Miika Fadjukov, MedEngine’s Scientific Project Manager, Medical Affairs & Marketing.

The familiar adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” could easily be updated to “a moving image is worth a thousand words.”

But not just any animated visuals will do. Compelling video content is a must, says Miika Fadjukov, Scientific Project Manager with the Medical Affairs & Marketing team at MedEngine.

“As there’s so much available online today, it’s extremely important to create quality content that stands out from the mass,”  says Miika.

He attributes this to the fact that humans possess a well-developed sense of sight that can recall faces and interpret micro-movements in facial expressions that express a range of feelings.

The art of science

Miika, who has a background in biotechnology and microscopy imaging techniques, is also a professional photographer and ran his own business for ten years before joining MedEngine at the start of 2017.

Having both an artistic and scientific background has been a great asset for Miika.

“Here at MedEngine I’m able to combine the creative with medical and marketing work. All these areas are very close to my heart, so this is the perfect combination for me,”

says Miika, whose responsibilities include MedEngine’s own marketing and communications, which he takes care of with company founder Tero Ylisaukko-oja.

Based in Finland’s third largest city Tampere, Miika is an active outdoor enthusiast and audiophile with a love of electronic music and piano concertos.

One of his favorite hobbies is using a photocopter to capture the world from a bird’s eye view. “It fascinates people to see things from a new perspective as it opens up a mystical world that was previously hidden,” he says.

More moving images

Animation is a growing area of creative production for MedEngine.

“Animation offers a great way to communicate complicated scientific concepts very efficiently,” says Miika.

“New applications for animation are being found all the time and demand for it is constantly growing. Our unique advantage is that we can seamlessly combine scientific expertise with high-quality animation production. Our services are also cost-efficient for our clients because we are able to take care of all elements from research and script writing to checking scientific accuracy and regulatory matters through to the final package,” he says.

Regardless of whether it’s video, animation or photography combined with scientific know-how, the key to an excellent end result is teamwork, says Miika.

“Many of our best ideas arise when we brainstorm together with our talented multidisciplinary team here at MedEngine.”

“We can choose the best from different suggestions and gather them into a unique work that’s the result of vision and experience,” he says.
