Some of the most interesting stories come with a sense of growth and learning. Ida is a great example of that. She started as a trainee, moved into a part-time role during her studies, and is now a full-time member of the Market Access Team. Ida’s journey perfectly reflects MedEngine’s philosophy of nurturing talent.
Ida smiles a lot. “As a person, I’m caring and loyal. I’m careful and deliberate: I like to weigh options before coming to a decision”, she says in analysis of her own decision making.
Ida’s background is in Health Economics and Pharmacy. Her university studies took her originally to Kuopio, Finland, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. ”However, I wanted to further develop in-depth knowledge about pharmacology and biological function and to learn more about the lifecycle of drugs. Hence, I started studying pharmacy alongside my Master’s in Health Economics.”
“I’ve worked as a trainee in the forensic laboratory at the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation”
Before joining MedEngine Ida has worked in different customer service roles. This includes the field of pharma, but also, and quite surprisingly, law enforcement. ”I worked as a trainee in the forensic laboratory at the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation. I’ve also worked in a large pharmacy chain here in Finland with a diverse range of products, services, and duties. There my work covered all the customer service duties, from dispensing of prescription medicines to customer counseling.”
During her studies, Ida was especially excited with the possibility of using Real World Data. “I think the coolest thing I did in my studies was when we conducted a cost-effectiveness analysis. It was fascinating to see how combining clinical and economic evidence was used to determine the value of different drugs.”
“Market access is a multidisciplinary field that combines different subjects, such as economics, epidemiology, data science and statistics. I really enjoy the variety of work and therapy areas! ”
Making use of her expertise in a variety of cross-pollinating projects has given her the joy of connecting the dots and seeing the real-life effects of her work. ”Market access is such a thriving and fast-paced field. It’s a multidisciplinary field that combines different subjects, such as economics, epidemiology, data science and statistics. I really enjoy the variety of work and therapy areas I get to work with! More importantly, knowing that I helped clients to launch therapies for patients who are truly in need of them, makes my work highly rewarding”, Ida summarizes.
After almost two years with the company, Ida feels that the journey at MedEngine has given her a lot. ”I started as a trainee at MedEngine and I felt like I had really grown with the company. People at MedEngine are very supportive, and people here have a similar professional purpose. The purpose is to help patients and our clients.”
“Exploring nature with my furry friends is something I am passionate about.”
Ida’s parents have two Lagottos, a type of water dog, which she often takes care of. ”When I was growing up, there were always animals in my house, and I’ve always considered myself an animal lover. Exploring nature with my furry friends is something I am passionate about. In addition, I love to spend time with my family and friends. In my spare time, I also enjoy playing video games like Call Of Duty Warzone. It is a great way to reset your mind—and also requires robust strategies and fast decision-making.”
Great to have you on board full-time, Ida. A warm welcome, congrats!
